Apple Inc. is the darling of the design industry. Rumors swirl of their mixed-reality visor as the competition for metaverse market share is just getting started.
The Bible tells us what the Apple logo symbolizes; "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." (KJV, Genesis 3:1–5)
In Exodus, Moses is fearful to return to Egypt to confront Pharaoh and is given a sign; "And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand." (KJV, Exodus 4:1–4)
Christ refers to this event in John; "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." (KJV, John 3:11–15)
Eating from the fruit is the reason for the fallen state of man. God wants us to glorify Christ while grappling with the deceivers of this world. Is this what we are doing with our technology?
The Aspen Institute hosted Google's Eric Schmidt who claims that AI will give people super powers to create anything imaginable which could possibly destroy the world. There is no discussion about rethinking the purpose of the digital infrastructure or reversing negative trends. It's framed in a geopolitical context that is totally divorced from the reality of the everyman. In fact, the panel laughs when the mental illness caused by information warfare is brought up. Disgusting.
Brad Smith talks about America's tripartite structure of government/military, private sector business, and non-profits/think-tanks/universities. He talks about the importance of leveraging these institutions against China's pure public structure. These are the people who are dictating economic policy and what your career will look like as a designer. Apparently we will all be competing against Russia and China to win the race to have the best super cyber soldiers so we can win the metaverse. These people are living out an Ender's Game fantasy in real life. It's crazy how they tie everything together from the war in Ukraine to DALL-E so please watch this talk.
There will be three jobs in the metaverse: Building the metaverse, defending the metaverse or designing metaverse experiences. In context of the geopolitical game, animators, artists and designers will be creating for psychic influence not unlike the current industries of visual effects, advertising and user experience. This is a continuation of the anglosphere's war on the astral plane.
